Eastern Pondhawk (male)

Erythemis simplicicollis

Description:

Mature males are powdery blue with a yellow tipped abdomen. Green face. Males aggressively defend their territories, especially at the waters edge. Immature males look similar to females and will transition from green to blue as they mature (pic 2).

Habitat:

Spotted at a swampy park in southeastern Arkansas.

Notes:

Range is eastern North America.
