Anthrax dolabratus
This beefly had a wingspan of about 15 mm. The basal part of the wings were black which ended in a smooth wavy line. The rest of the wings were clear. Head, thorax and abdomen were black. The abdomen had a soft velvety look and was truncated with the rear end covered with pale setae.
Spotted in a suburban garden.
Adults feed on nectar and pollen while the larvae are parasitoids on other insects.
A shot of the head was not possible as this fly was very wary and did not settle for more than a few seconds.
Family: Bombyliidae

You may Stephanie. Some flies are quite attractive and feed on nectar. Has made me change my mind about flies too !! not sure if I like their young ones.
Do I dare say that this fly is beautiful:)
Great shot. Is beefly like sheeply ?
