Fomitopsis betulina

Description:

Fomitopsis betulina (previously Piptoporus betulinus), large carpophores on a decaying log. One of 12 cm in diameter, the other over 20. Flesh firm but spongy; Cream brown in color, and bright white underneath.

Habitat:

Foothills of Jura mountain range; found on a fallen and decaying log in forested area of our town park.
