Also known as Balkan Dace, this is a member of carp and minnow family Cyprinidae, some 20 - 25 cm in length.
Adriatic or Bakan Dace is a freshwater fish, endemic to karst drainage systems of Croatia and Bosnia, and vulnerable due to pollution, the introduction of other species and habitat destruction. Occurs in streams with swift water and waterfalls and in lakes. Here, seen everywhere in protected zones of Krka river, in lakes and shallow streams.
