Sulawesi paper wasp (?)

Mischocyttarus sp.

Description:

3 cm long. I think it is a paper wasp (Mischocyttarus sp.) that were lost in Australasia. I was guessing.

Habitat:

Mixed coconut, clove, and nutmeg garden in an urban area.

Notes:

Is it odd to find this neotropical species in Sulawesi? This may be the same individual as http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/135...

Mischocyttarus doesn't occur anywhere in India and has a longer first abdominal segment. The most common genera in your area are Polistes and Ropalidia. Body structure is more important than coloration when it comes to genera here.

Thank you, ChunXingWong for the suggestion. I am leaning toward Mischocyttarus sp because of the yellow spot on the head, and the yellow pattern on the thorax.

Nice to see the nest and wasp together. I would love to see the garden. How about a nutmeg tree picture?
