Gray Headed Kite - Gavilán cabecigris

Leptodon cayanensis

Description:

It measures 46 to 53 cm in length and weighs between 410 and 605 g. The adult has a gray head, black back, white belly and black tail with two or three white bands. The beak is blue and the legs are short and gray. The wings have black covering feathers and reticulated rows and white barrels.

Habitat:

Live in open forests and marshy forests of Central and South America.

Notes:

It feeds primarily on reptiles, but also eats large frogs and insects.
