Black-capped Chickadee

Description:

Black-capped Chickadees are gray birds with a black cap and throat patch, white chest, tan belly and small white wing marks. They are about 5" in size.

Habitat:

The Black-capped Chickadee is a non-migrator. It is a common Minnesota bird are found in all kinds of wooded areas, including backyards. It needs to feed everyday during winter and can be seen foraging for food during even the worst winter storms.

Notes:

This Black-capped Chickadee was spotted at the Chippewa Picnic Area on Hwy 26, near the snow plowed parking area for cars. It was eating on a small deer carcass. Their diet usually consists of seeds, insects, fruit, and are attracted to suet & seed feeders.
