Spotting

Description:

The cap is white and bumpy and soft. The inside spores are white. The first time I saw it was when me and my mom where looking for ladybugs. The cap was closed (pictures 1 and 2). The cap was a little bigger then my fingernail. When I checked it the next day the cap puffed out (picture 3). It smells wet and a little stinky. It reminds me of when I first ate a mushroom and I didn't like it. There were other mushrooms around but they were all dried up.

Habitat:

It is in the city on a street with a lot of trees. We found the mushroom in the grass between the street and the sidewalk in a little hole. The weather has been hot but it is changing to colder. There is a pine tree near to where the mushrooms are.

Notes:

This mushroom is very extraordinary. I wish I watched it puff out.

Cool mushroom. I love that it poofs out! Have you seen a video of it growing before? I found this time lapse video that shows it "poofing out" on YouTube. (The music is rather dramatic!). Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1E48_W0D...
