I believe we might not. But the locals say that they have seen prairie dogs when they go for morning walks.
Prarie dogs are a species of ground squirrel.

Yours just looks very fat. I think also prairie dogs have shorter hair. Some say they see them in southern California but I think they just see other types of ground squirrels that look like them.

We have no prairie dogs in the bay area and don't think we have any in California. I know Arizona and Utah does.
