Mangal community

Rhizophora.

Description:

Red mangroves are those with the large red arching roots in the foreground the spikes coming out of the ground black and some white mangrove roots containing aerenchyma.

Habitat:

coastal intertidal zone

Notes:

This a small part of a mangrove forest containing red, black and white mangrove species. These are a family of highly specialized plants expertly adapted to their habitat. with no competition from other species of trees because of the harsh environmental conditions, some of which are high light intensity, unstable and highly saline and water logged soil and tidal surges. They provide nurseries for commercially caught fish and sharks and protect the coast from erosion. A full description on them can found in other online sites. I encourage everyone to research these intriguing plants as they preserve our environment land sea and air!!
