White Underwing Moth

Catocala relicata.

Description:

Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Erebinae (Underwings) A common large underwing. TL 47 mm, WS 75 mm. Dark form of the moth. White peppered with gray and black. Swirl design. HW is black with an even white band and fringe. Hosts: Poplar and willow.

Habitat:

Prefers woodlands but will come to sugar bait and light in small number.
