Same attractive wasp as in

but after it had settled a little.
When at rest the wings fold over. Wing venation do not extend to the margins (pic 4).
Suburban garden.
Adult females are parasitoids on beetle larvae so are usually seen flying low around compost or wood heaps and dry tree stumps.

Adult flower wasps feed on nectar. They do not have a communal hive to defend and so are not aggressive. Seen two of these in the same place in as many weeks ! My first spotting of these on 9 March was exciting but I could not get close-up shots. Family: Scoliidae.
