Wing-Barred Seedeater

Sporophila americana

Description:

A small passerine with a large neotropical range. It was once considered conspecific with S. corvina and S. murallae, but they have been split into three species. It is black with a distinctive white wingbar, and a thick bill. Found mainly in small flocks in open areas.

Habitat:

Cattle pasture

Notes:

In a flock of about 10 birds.
