Description:

P. p. porphyrio is found in Iberia, France, Sardinia and North Africa to Tunisia. This bird is an invasive establishing itself throughout south Florida. A much larger bird than the native purple gallinule. .

Habitat:

Freshwater wetlands, in this case manmade freshwater wetland.

Notes:

Invasive that is now established in south Florida.
