Pseudemys concinna concinna

Description:

A large river dwelling turtle of the east. They are beautifully patterned, with a complex swirling design on the carapace, and a green and yellow striped head and neck. They feed on many food sources, with the younger ones tending towards a diet more rich in protein.

Habitat:

Small woodland creek

Notes:

This individual was medium sized, about 12 inches in length.

Yes they do. This one was found in a very clear sandy creek though, so that may have something to do with it.

I wonder how he stays so bright & shiny...usually large turtles get rather grungy looking.
