Spider: Family: Araneidae (Orb weaver spiders) Female. Nearly 2 inches (5.08 cm) long with legs outstretched Banded top abdomen, underside. Black and yellow "mask" with red rose-like structure. Wrapping Praying Mantis ( Superorder: Dictyoptera. Order: Mantodea) 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) in length. See video.
Meadow with abundant flowers and weeds. Spider range is extensive. Most of USA including Hawaii and Southern Canada.
