Nocturnal Wasp

Description:

A nighttime orange wasp on the other side of a window. About 2cm in length. This wasp is from the Provespa genus. It can sting too just like an ordinary wasp.

Habitat:

On this hill in Pinausok, Kundasang, Sabah. Provespa wasps are distributed only in Southeast Asia.

Notes:

Not very common back in Tawau but common here in this inn. They are a regular night visitor. Only 3 Provespa species are recorded - Provespa anomala, P. barthelemyi and P. nocturna. This wasp is one of these 3 species. >>>Map accuracy : 15m diameter.
