There is an ecosystem that few have the opportunity to see: the tundra. Atop alpine summits (among the highest in the province), this austere habitat is characterized by dwarfed trees and an abundance of unique plants adapted to the harsh conditions. Here you will see the woodland caribou, whose presence in the Gaspésie has special significance.
This picture was taken in a park in Québec. These caribous are captive animals. The Bioparc... the Gaspésie's wild animal park. To visit the Bioparc is to discover the natural diversity of the Gaspé Peninsula through five unique ecosystems: the Bay, the Barachois (tidal pools and bars), the River, the Forest and the Tundra. As you stroll our trail of more than one-kilometre, you will come into close contact with over thirty indigenous animal species living in semi-liberty in their own ecosystems. In addition, you will see over 70 plant species.
