Scarce swallowtail

Iphiclides podalirius

Description:

This swallowtail is a large distinctive butterfly, with some 70 millimetres wingspan. Color of wings is mainly pale yellow; with tiger stripes on front wings; and blue crescent markings on hind ones, combined with a long tail.

Habitat:

Widespread and very common, observed all over the NP Krka, in woodland, grasslands and close to water streams and waterfalls. Here, in this series, observed on a dry escarpment close to the National Park, but much drier.
