A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Odocoileus virginianus
The southern part of Québec is the northern limit of the white-tailed deer distribution area. They prefer milder climates because they are not well adjusted to moving around in the deep snow and finding food can be difficult.
These pictures were taken at a zoo. These deers are captive animals. Located on the western tip of the Island of Montreal, the Ecomuseum zoo offers its visitors a unique and natural experience. It is operated by the St. Lawrence Valley Natural History Society, a not-for-profit organization with a mission that focuses on education, research and applied conservation. You will discover and get intimate glimpses into the lives of more than 115 species of live animals native to Quebec’s St. Lawrence Valley.
