Red-Spotted Purple

Limenitis arthemis

Description:

These guys can be found all over apples that have fallen off the tree, and sometimes on apples still hanging. In total I was able to count 6 different individuals, then I lost track of the one and ruined my count. If I had to guess I'd say there where 6-14 in total under the apple tree.

Some of them are really bright, but occasionally you'll find a duller one. Really not sure if they are like birds in regards to the duller are female and the more vibrant are males.
