American Bison

Bison bison

Description:

The most amazing beast I've ever seen. HUGE. They were beginning to shed their winter coat, so they all looked very bedraggled.

Habitat:

Open areas of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.

Notes:

Picture #1, the profile, was "that" close. I could have reached out my window and touched him. We did look in each other's eyes for a moment. Those eyes seemed so sad, yet ancient. Just plodding down the road. And you can just jolly well wait for him to decide to move. Or not move. Picture #2 I call "A bird and his bison". Just a lone bison, down by the river, grazing. , with a bird riding along on his back, snatching bugs as they went along. Probably pulled a tick or two from the back as well?
