Whitebanded crab spider vs. Carpenter bee (male)

Misumenoides formosipes / Xylocopa sp

Description:

This small crab spider was waiting on a beebalm flower ready to ambush any unsuspecting insect that landed there. Unfortunately for her, this bee was rather more than she bargained for & after a quick approach she made an even quicker retreat!

Habitat:

Semi rural wildlife habitat.

Thanks Ashish, Ann & Juan! The bee lived to flight another day - I think the spider realized he was out of her league!

Wao!, this is an amazing picture. I almost feel bad for the bee... by the way, the bee is a Carpenter Bee male (Xylocopa sp.)
