Description:

Large grey Flesh Fly, Family Sarcophagidae. These flies are ovoviviparous, opportunistically depositing hatched or hatching maggots instead of eggs on carrion, dung, or even open wounds of mammals, as well as on rotting fruit or other decaying organic materials.

Habitat:

Semi-rural area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
