Velvet Ant

Description:

This is by the far the smallest Velvet Ant I have ever seen, at about 4 mm in length. It was very fast and blended well with the micro flora growing on the stone stairs of the Great Acropolis, Calakmul Mayan Ruins. Family Mutillidae.

Habitat:

Mayan Ruins of Calakmul, Reserva de la Biosfera Calakmul, Campeche, Mexico.
