Triturus marmoratus
Beautiful Marbled Newt found on our kitchen floor! First example I have seen here. Possibly due to a long period of very wet weather, throughout most of the spring. Rescued to the garden!

Well done, Rich. Your photo really captured the brilliant colors of this newt.

Congratulations RichP for the SOTD.
Great spotting! Congrats.
Welcome to Project Noah RichP, and congratulations, your Marbled Newt is our Spotting of the Day:
"What a splendid pattern on this Marbled Newt (Triturus marmoratus), our Spotting of the Day! While marbled newts are found throughout most of France, and northern Spain west to the top third of Portugal , they would appear to be rare in the Pyrénées, where this spotting was made, because of dry and unstable conditions. Our spotter RichP remarks that it's the first example of marbled newt they've seen in their area, possibly due to a long period of very wet spring weather. Juveniles and adult females of this species have an orange stripe running down the back from the head to the tip of the tail as seen here, while breeding males are crested".
