Tiger Bee Fly

Xenox tigrinus

Description:

Every summer there is one of the large flies hanging out on the fence. They seem pretty calm and allow me to get close for photos and sometimes will even land on my hand! Fairly easy to identify due to the fly's distinctive wing pattern.

Habitat:

Suburban yard.
