Hi Photogin, I recently found this one in Southern Mexico and haven't found the species yet. It bit me hard when I picked it up! They look so much like Velvet Ants when running around because of their color and hairiness.

This is a Checkered Beetle, Family Cleridae. Try looking under Cleridae of Tennessee or Cleridae of the US.
