Violet-fronted brilliant

Heliodoxa leadbeateri

Description:

Slender majorly dark and black green hummingbird. White patch behind the eye. Short tail.

Habitat:

In the Botanical Garden of Topotepuy, Caracas, Venezuela. Near mountain range. At about 1500 above sea level.

Notes:

There were loads of these little guys humming around the garden, hanging around the feeders. At Topotepuy about 140 species of hummingbirds have been spotted. This one sat on a branch and started to clean his features while we ( a small group of 4 year olds ) were looking at him.
