Poronidulus conchifer
This fungus fruits with a bracket approximately 1-1.5 inches diameter. Subsequently a ‘cap,’ approximately 0.5 inches diameter develops near the attachment point of the first bracket. With time, the larger bracket falls off, leaving the small, sterile caps. (See: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/180...) These are the caps that remained after the larger brackets fell off. Caps are white with concentric rings of brown or gray colors; have small stems; with large pores.
Growing on small branch, approximately 0.5 inches diameter. Found on ground after branch had fallen from large hardwood tree growing on floodplain above a small creek.
Synonym: Trametes conchifer
