Pycnonotus jocosus
Bulbul with conspicuous black crest, white earpatch, red bristles behind eye, plain brown/black, red undertail coverts.
On a tree bearing fruit at the moment. Forget the name of it! In our backyard.
This bird is an introduced species to Sydney a century or more ago and became established slowly, but has now spread into country areas. It lives in thick bush, parkland and gardens and feasts on insects and fruit. I remember as a child watching them on our grapevine on the back veranda. I will attempt to get a better shot. they are on the tree in the morning.
