Thanks for helping Bayucca...thats why i was reluctant , to just add Melanodes anthracitaria...it's so close but just not quiet ...i know so many moths can be so variable ...i will keep looking also . Sorry it has taken me a few days to reply.

Close to Melanodes anthracitaria, indeed. But there are some markings that do not exactly fit: There is only one black line on the hindwing, which is in addition more "scalopped" than in Melanodes anthracitaria. The lines on the forewing are also a little bit more zig-zagged and markings are different or missing. But this is just what my eyes sees. I did not find another matching candidate so far. But I would also agree with Geometridae, Ennominae, at least at first sight... What do you think, Charlie?
