Notes:

This large moth was spotted yesterday evening resting on a window in our house. Notice the broken wings, perhaps a bird attack.

I agree with Nuwan, it may be wise not to get down to species level. There are too many similar ones around in India. At least we had the same genus ;-)...
I would take Thinopteryx sp. as scientific name.
