Tersa Sphinx Moth

Xylophanes tersa

Description:

Tersa Spinx Moth Chrysalis around 2 inches in length. Colors are brown with black markings.

Habitat:

Host plants: smooth buttonplant (Spermacoce glabra), starclusters (Penta species), Borreria, Catalpa, and Manettia species.

Notes:

This is a follow up to my post a few days ago in regards to the Tersa Sphinx Moth Caterpillar found on my red pentas. I safely put the caterpillar into one of my butterfly cages to document the changes and take pictures as necessary. The caterpillar crawled underneath a pile of penta leaves I placed in the cage as well as under a moist paper towel to change into its chrysalis.
