Textured Emerald

Hypodoxa muscosaria

Description:

A typically delicate geometrid with a wingspan of about 40mm and displaying a strong green colour within a broken pattern of wavy lines and bands.

Habitat:

This one was attracted to a dull exterior light near midnight.
Luckily it landed in my hand for a while for a few (one-handed) photos.

Notes:

Two found in the last few years and both much greener than other web images. The green might fade after eclosion so this might be a very 'fresh' specimen?
Do we get greener ones in this area?

Thank you for your comment re:- Rosella. This is a great site to see 'round the world Flora and Fauna. I'm not computer literate and so have to take advantage of my son having time to help me put any spotting up. I'm not camera savvy much either but enjoy trying to get a picture of anything that I see. I'm sure that you will get into Queensland again sooner than later.
