Hunchback Bee Fly

Lepidophora lutea

Description:

This super cool fly looks like a cross between a bee, a mosquito, and a midge. It was awesome. Too bad it wouldn't stay still for many pictures, but at least I got it on video :)! This species has abundant yellow scales on the sides of the fourth abdominal segments and on the thorax.

Habitat:

Spotted on the side of a pond on a super sunny morning.

Notes:

Sorry my camera is sooo incredibly loud in this video!
