Clavaria amoena

Description:

Delicate club-shaped coral fungus. Stems with fruiting bodies from 30-70mm tall and about 2mm diameter base up to 10mm diameter around the club. Characteristic bright yellow/gold that really stands out on the forest floor.

Habitat:

Grows from the ground and also on very rotted wood. This one spotted in Pirongia Forest Park in the North Island of NZ in dense native forest.

Notes:

Wet dreary day on the mountain and the colour of this little fungus stood out dramatically.
