Sacada sp.(likely pyraliformis)
Words fail me. It looks like a shrivelled cardamom pod or something. Dark mottled brown. Definitely wonderful camouflage in a forested area among dry twigs etc. . From the centre of the body some structure rises up vertically...or is it the end of the abdomen pointing skywards?
Drawn towards the porch light of a cottage at Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area situated at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringe of Neora Valley National Park. This moth sat on the door at an angle that made it difficult to photograph it as I would have liked.
I would so, so like a name for this odd-looking moth. Thanks to Leuba Ridgway I have a name for this moth...and on her advice I've cropped and posted closeups. This is all Wikipedia says: Sacada pyraliformis is a species of snout moth. It is found in India. From China there is an absolute twin: https://www.flickr.com/photos/itchydogim...

Added some cropped photos: thanks Leuba.
Sure thing Leuba. I do crop the photos. But with these moths the low light available meant bad picture quality and cropping makes it worse. But I will bear it in mind. Thanks a lot.
Check out Sacada pyraliformis.
Sukanya, that's a wonderful spotting. I think it's a snout moth ( Pyralidae family) and probably Sacada sp.

Your photos are so interesting but it's difficult to see details. Could I please suggest that you crop your photos a little closer to the specimen. I used to do the same until someone on PN pointed it out to me. I now crop really good photos to a square and then scale them to 1200 x 1200.
