Satyrium saepium
A small Lycaenid butterfly, golden brown on the underside with a small black spot on the tip of the hind wing. This species has extremely small "tails". The underside of the body was pale grey and it has a prominent white ring around the eyes. It left without opening its wings, however the upper side is shown in the references and is golden brown in color.
Dry rocky area known as "Lizard's Mouth" above Santa Barbara, California, 862 meters.
