Congratulations Arun, your Blue Mormons are our Spotting of the Day:
" This delightful image of Blue Mormons (Papilio polymnestor) hovering about Peacock Flowers (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) is our Spotting of the Day! The blue mormon is a large swallowtail butterfly (family Papilionidae) native to south India and Sri Lanka. Caesalpinia pulcherrima, however, a small shrub in the legume family, has been cultivated for so long that its origins seem unclear. It is considered introduced in many tropical regions around the world where it is grown for its striking and colorful flowers. Butterflies in the family Papilionidae appear to be the primary pollinators of Caesalpinia pulcherrima, and mainly carry pollen on their wings. These butterflies approach the flowers from above and in front as seen here, and are effective as pollinators by continuously fluttering their wings while visiting the flowers.
