Description:

Unmistakable wader: about 30cm long, rich chestnut body, with white throat and cheeks. Blue frontal shield, and bill. Grey blue long legs with enormous toes, allowing it to "walk on water"... Photos 4 and 5, juvenile.

Habitat:

All over Sub-Saharan Africa, wetlands. Here, seen on Awasa lake.
