Description:

Common resident hummingbird in the western states . Body is mostly green with gray and green on the underparts. Bill is straight and shorter compared with other species. In direct light the crown and gorget are an iridescent color from magenta to a reddish-pink. Indirect is a dull black.

Habitat:

This one was spotted near a lake feeding off city landscaped flowers.
