A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Catoptrophorus semipalmatus
Medium-sized shorebird, with long yellowish-greenish legs, light brown back and wings, white belly, thin light brown strikings on the chest and neck, long neck and black bill. Perhaps a juvenile?
Grassland National Park, typical Prairie habitat. It was feeding in freshwater pounds.
Thanks for all the answers, comments and help that managed to Id that guy!
Well done Jeff. I think you right. The colours, range and habitat are a match. So it must be a Willet.
Yeah I think you're right, nice call. Still learning North American birds (I'm from Australia).

The legs aren't yellow enough for Yellowlegs (& greater has a much longer bill). Greenshank would have a much longer bill also.
It may or may not be it but there has been sightings in North America,

I don't think you find Greenshanks in North America. I'd Say Greater Yellowlegs.
@jellis, it might, but I am confused with the greenish legs.
Bill length is almost 1.5 times the head size.
looks like it could be a Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) but can't see the bill length. Needs someone else to confirm
