Description:

Common dais is a herbaceous perennial plant with short creeping rhizomes and basal rosettes of rounded leaves (Ph N°4). Inflorescences or flowerheads grow on stems 10 to 15 cm tall, hairy but baring no leaves; flowerheads are composed of white florets around the bright-yellow ones in the centre.

Habitat:

Very common european wildflower, found in many different habitats - forest edges and clearings; edges of walking paths, meadows and grasslands, between agriculture fields... Here, found inside beautiful and protected 'Bois du Faisan' forest (somewhat mixed, but predominantly deciduous forest, a lot of oak).

Notes:

Edible - young leaves and flowers are excellent fresh in salads or sandwiches; flowerheads are also very decorative in salads. It also possess some medical properties.
