Flea Beetle

Description:

Tiny Leaf Beetle about 1.1 mm long with expanded hind femora for jumping. These are often called Flea Beetles because of their small size and because they jump readily if disturbed. Metallic blue elytra with orange head, thorax and legs. These can often be so numerous as to skeletonize an entire plant.

Habitat:

Found on bushes along the highway between San Cristobal and Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km 17.5, 1164 meters.
