Trametes versicolor
Polypore in a rosette formation on the base of a rotting stump. Concentric zones of gray, blue, cinnamon, and cream colors. Texture is firm and velvety. Fertile surface (on the underside) is cream to white and covered in tiny pores. Trametes versicolor is a common saprobe on hardwood in North America. A member of the Polyporaceae family, T. versicolor, displays highly variable pilei and a white fertile surface with small pores.
