Staghorn Sumac

Rhus typhina

Description:

Rhus typhina is the scientific name for a staghorn sumac. are native to eastern north America. This tree was on the edge of a field and a forest in the backyard of our school. Rhus typhina spreads by seeds, the older plants in the center, the younger plants sprouting out.They are a deciduous shrub. Rhus typhina are very easy to identify because they are large, red, and furry.

Habitat:

We found this species on the woods edge of the school field.
