Scarlet Oak

Quercus coccinea

Description:

The Scarlet Oak is a common tree whose leaves are 7.5 to 18 cm long and 5-13 cm wide. The leaves are deeply divided into lobes. Each lobe ends in several "teeth". The bark is dark gray and thick and rough. The inner bark is reddish. The Scarlet Oak grows to 60-80 feet tall. The diameter of the trunk is .3 to .8 meters. The range of the Scarlet Oak is Maine to Georgia. The Scarlet Oak is a beautiful tree.

Habitat:

The Scarlet Oak was found in the wooded area near our school.
