Pied Cormorant

Phalacrocorax varius

Description:

Pied Cormorants are large black and white birds with a long, grey, hooked bill and black legs and feet. They have an orange eye-patch.

Habitat:

They are found near the ocean and are throughout the mainland of Australia. They can also be found in mangroves and wetlands on the eastern side of Australia.

Notes:

These three cormorants were not rattled when I walked up to them. I got a few good photos and I liked the bottom bird best as he looked comical sticking his head up. Unfortunately, a family came up and they all flew away.
