Sula sula
Smallest of the booby species, they have distinctive red legs and feet. Their prehensile feet are unique to the red-footed boobies. There are several color variations or morphs from white to brown. Boobies are well adapted for diving and feature long bills, lean and aerodynamic bodies, closeable nostrils, and long wings which they wrap around their bodies before entering the water at up to 100km/h (60 miles/hour).
The red-footed booby is mainly a pelagic species, only using land to breed. It nests in large colonies, laying one chalky blue egg in a stick nest, which is incubated by both adults for 44–46 days. The nest is usually placed in a tree or bush, but rarely.
